Beschreibung

I'm András Herczog—engineer, a devoted family man, and an avid outdoor enthusiast. Though I hail from Hungary, my heart found its home in Portugal in 2010. Over the years, I've explored the beauty of this country with my family and friends, making every moment count.

My journey into the world of racing began 26 years ago, ignited by my participation in the inaugural mountain bike OX (Olympic Cross) races in 1997. Proudly holding the title of Hungarian National Champion (2x), I've also competed on the global stage at the World and European Championships in 2003, along with numerous World Cups.

While mountain biking dominated my early sporting life, a pivotal shift occurred in 2019. Introduced to Trail Running just before the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, I was captivated by the thrill and challenge it offered—transforming my perception of running entirely.

During the pandemic lockdown, I sought solace and adventure in short trail runs through the forests near my home, providing a respite from the uncertainties of the world. In March 2021, feeling a deep need for change, I set a formidable goal for myself—I aspire to triumph at the renowned UTMB.

This newfound passion for Trail Running has reshaped my life. I now dedicate myself to daily workouts and frequent races, reminiscent of the good old days when racing defined my existence. This is my life now—a pursuit of excellence and a relentless chase for victory.

As I set my sights on the UTMB, I invite you to join me on this exhilarating journey. I am not just an athlete; I am a storyteller, a testament to perseverance and the pursuit of dreams.

Partner with me, and let's create a narrative of triumph together—a story that resonates globally, showcasing your brand on the path to UTMB glory.

2024 race season plan

Ultra Trilhos dos Abutres 50km: Former Trail World Championship 2019

Excited to share that I'll be taking on the revered UTA50, a trailblazing race in Portugal that has been a benchmark for over a decade. A coveted event, entry is exclusive via invitation and lottery, attracting elite racers from across the globe. Honored to secure an invitation this year, I look forward to conquering the renowned technical and muddy course.

Madeira Island Ultra Trail 115km:

In 2023, the MIUT took center stage as my premier race of the season. Such an exceptional experience has fueled my determination to tackle it once more in 2024. This race stands out as one of the most scenic, traversing the stunning Island of Madeira from coast to coast, winding through the majestic central mountains. Covering 115km with a challenging 7500m+ elevation, it's a formidable test. After securing the 34th position last year, my goal for 2024 is a top 10 ranking—setting my sights higher for an even more exhilarating challenge!

Races that are in sight and I plan to participate

European Athletics Off-Road Running Championships - Long Trail

Having earned a spot on the Hungarian National Trail Team in 2023, I'm eagerly anticipating the opportunity to qualify once more for the European Trail Championship in France. The specific criteria for selection are yet to be outlined by the Hungarian Athletic Federation, and I'll be able to provide concrete updates on my participation in this race around February 2024. Stay tuned for exciting developments on this journey!

Western States Endurance Race - 100 miles

Participating in the MIUT in 2023 not only provided an incredible experience but also secured me a coveted ticket to the Western States 100 mile Endurance Race in California, USA. While I harbor no illusions about gaining entry on my first attempt, I'm determined to give it a shot. Who knows, perhaps luck will be on my side, turning the dream of racing in one of the world's oldest and most prestigious trail run events into a reality.

Spirit of '78 Triathlon

Ending the season with a bang—an Ironman race tailor-made for my taste! Beyond the typical full Ironman challenge, this event adds a quirky twist—participants must sport a mustache, ride a steel-framed bicycle, and don '70s sport clothing :)

In addition to the mentioned races, I'm eagerly anticipating local events in Portugal, such as the Grande Trail Serra D'Arga and the Ultra Trail do Marão. Flexibility is key, and I remain open to any unexpected changes or opportunities that life may throw my way. Here's to embracing the unpredictable journey ahead!

Unser idealer Sponsor

The perfect sponsor understands the struggle of starting something significant, having risen from humble beginnings to achieve greatness.

I relate to those who've broken free from the rat race to pursue their dreams. An ideal sponsor is someone whose products/services I trust and proudly represent. I envision a partnership where we build a sports career together, contributing to the growth of the sponsor's brand.
