ROBERTO FLÁVIO DA SILVA LEÔNCIO

Roberto won a 10-year race for his life on hemodialysis treatment. Getting off hemodialysis and gaining back his quality of life was a dream for a long time, which finally became a reality in 2016 with his wife Shirley's kidney donation. Seven years later the two qualify to participate in the World Transplant Games in Perth, Australia. 

With Roberto as the recipient and Shirely as the donor, this is the first time that transplanted donor and recipient athletes participate and stand on the podium of the Brazil Master Cup of Athletics, thus qualifying for the World Transplant Games in Perth, Australia. They are the only couple of transplanted donor and transplanted athletes in Brazil competing together.
